| My Testimony: | On January 27th 2009 I came to know Christ as my personal lord and savior. This is the greatest decision I have yet to make in my short life. Growing up I spent many a day in an independent fundamental bible believing church. My father was an assistant pastor and youth director from the time I was 6 till I graduated high school. Upon graduating high school I thought I knew all there was to know about this great land of ours and sought out to forge a path to greatness on my own. I spent the next several years trying to prove to myself and everyone around me that I had what it took to take on the world. I drifted in and out of church and hoped that I could do enough on my own to keep right in Gods eye. I never realized that chasing the things of the world would send me on a very hard journey. I tried to find happiness through many different outlets, but could never seem to get out of the doldrums. I could count the times were I should have been taken from this earth. In January of 2008 I was robbed at gunpoint while sitting in my apartment. I was forced to leave the apartment with a gun shoved into my back. The only thing I could think as we made the drive to an ATM machine was that my life would end in such a horrible way. It was a short while after this that I began to feel God tugging at my heart. I began to seek after God and tried several local churches but never felt that God was there. In January of 2009 by the grace of God I attended a service at Val Verde Baptist and began to realize after leading my fiancé’s son to the lord that I had never truly came to a point in my life where I could say that I had truly accepted Christ as my personal savior. After that night my Fiancé and I sat a talked several times about our personal salvation experiences. We both knew of God but never truly knew God. After attending a couple more services we met with Pastor Stancil at Val Verde Baptist Church. This was one of the most rewarding yet humbling experiences of my life. Here I was the "preacher’s kid" and having to come to grips with reality that I never trusted Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. After many tears shed during our conversation with Pastor Stancil my Fiancé and I both accepted Christ which has since changed our entire lives. Since then we have been married and my 7 year old son has come to know Christ. The salvation of these two precious boys is worth everything to me. |
